# Every work tells its story.

> A QR code next to the artwork plays its commentary in each language, the artist's voice and the story of the object, right on the visitor's own phone.

A work on display, an art object, a family heirloom: a QR code next to it opens a JeliCard. Visitors listen to the commentary in their own language, hear the artist's voice, discover the story of the object and everything the label can't say.

**Who it's for** : Curators, Museums, Galleries, Cultural centres, Art festivals, Artists, … and any object you have at home that you want to showcase

## The problem: a label too small to say it all

The label gives a title, a date, a technique. Visitors often leave without the story of the work.

- **Little space** The label can't explain the artist's approach.
- **Only one language** Foreign visitors, or those who don't read French, are left out.
- **Costly audio guides** Devices to buy, charge and lend out.
- **After the visit** Visitors keep no record of what they saw.

## What the JeliCard can hold

- **Audio guide — The commentary on the work** Voice messages in several languages: visitors choose their own.
- **Artist — The artist's voice** The artist talks about the work, the technique, and what inspired it.
- **History — The story of the object** Its origin, its provenance, the hands it has passed through, how it was bought or handed down.
- **Images — Behind the scenes** Sketches, stages of creation, details invisible to the naked eye.
- **Documents — Catalogue and press kit** A link to your catalogue and your press kit, to open on the phone.
- **Buy — Contact the gallery** Price and availability, with the gallery's WhatsApp link or email written in the text.

## What Jèli gives you

- **An audio guide with no device** Visitors use their own phone: nothing to lend, nothing to install.
- **Every language** A voice message in French, in national languages, in English; and the text translates with one tap.
- **Accessible** Audio helps visitors who are visually impaired or who don't read.
- **Editable during the exhibition** A mistake, a work sold, a new event: you correct the JeliCard.
- **Visitors who stay in touch** People who opened your JeliCards in the Jèli app are notified of your new JeliCards, like the one for your next exhibition.
- **Free and ad-free** Visitors see only the work and your message.

## Your JeliCards travel around the world

A JeliCard is shared in one move: by text message, on social media, by email, on the internet, or simply by scanning the QR code from one phone to another. Your message travels across time and distance, and reaches every audience, here and elsewhere.

## What about Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp?

These tools are excellent, and you probably use them already. Jèli does not replace them: it does a different job.

### Instagram and TikTok — The networks that help people discover you

- **Ideal for** showing your news in photos and videos, and reaching new audiences.
- **Information** lives in a feed: new posts push the old ones down.
- **Access** mostly needs the app and an account; the algorithm decides who sees what.
- **Around it** other content and ads are shown too.

### WhatsApp — The messaging app that gets people talking

- **Ideal for** everyday conversations, answering questions, running a group.
- **Information** lives in a conversation: messages pile up and old ones are quickly lost.
- **Access** means having your number or being in the group.
- **Around it** are all the person's other conversations.

### Jèli — The reference page, in the right place

- **Ideal for** information that must stay available, attached to an object, a poster or a place.
- **Information** lives on a stable page: always in the same place, always up to date.
- **Access** takes a simple scan, with no account and no app.
- **Around it** no ads and no one else's content: only your message and your other JeliCards.

Instagram and TikTok bring in the public, and WhatsApp helps organise group visits. Jèli takes over in front of the work: visitors scan and listen to the commentary, without looking for your account or scrolling through a feed.

**It's not one or the other.** Put the links to your Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp accounts in the text of your JeliCard, and share your JeliCard on your networks: each tool does what it does best.

## How to do it

One JeliCard per work, or one per room.

1. **Choose** the works and your visitors' languages.
2. **Write** a short commentary for each work.
3. **Record** the voice messages, with the artist's voice if possible.
4. **Create the JeliCards** with images, links and contacts.
5. **Print the QR codes** on the labels, with “Scan to listen”.
6. **Welcome** visitors by showing how to scan at the entrance.
7. **Stay in touch** after the exhibition by announcing the next one on the JeliCards.

## Obstacles, and how to get past them

- **Not everyone has a smartphone** A relative, a seller or a community relay can scan and play it for them. The printed material still makes sense on its own.
- **Costly data, weak network** Short voice messages, light images, no app to download: the JeliCard opens fast, even with little data.
- **Few people know QR codes** Add the words “Scan to listen” and show the gesture once: after that, everyone knows how.
- **No signal in the room** Check the coverage, or offer the Wi-Fi at reception.
- **Copyright** Ask the artists' permission for the images, videos and texts you publish.
- **Too much work for every piece** Start with the highlights, or one JeliCard per room.

## Our tips

- Keep voice messages short: one to two minutes per work.
- Plan a welcome QR code at the entrance that presents the whole exhibition. If it isn't an exhibition, this QR code can present the artist's whole world, or works and monuments of the same kind to discover elsewhere in the city or region.
- Print the QR codes large enough and at eye level.
- Reuse the JeliCards when the exhibition travels.
- Don't forget your business card: your name and a QR code that leads to all your activities.

> The label names the work. The JeliCard makes it speak, in each visitor's language.
